Harmony Review: AI Email Assistant
We've tested Harmony, an AI-powered voice assistant that reads your Gmail emails aloud and allows you to manage your inbox completely hands-free
Welcome to this Harmony review 😊!
Email is one of the most widely used tools by people worldwide, not only for personal use but also academically and, even more so, professionally. It stands as the predominant communication method in these fields. It's no secret that a well-organized inbox significantly contributes to effective communication.
While achieving Inbox Zero is often seen as the ideal, and is indeed a valid goal, we also acknowledge that this objective can consume a substantial portion of our time and focus. This is especially true given that individuals commonly manage multiple inboxes, each potentially receiving dozens of emails daily, and that many of these messages arrive while we're busy with other tasks, making it difficult to respond immediately and leading to accumulation.
This is precisely why Harmony offers a solution to reach Inbox Zero hands-free and eyes-free: The app reads your messages aloud, and you respond using natural voice commands. Does it truly work so well? Let's find out!
Getting Started with Harmony
To begin, it's important to specify that Harmony is a mobile application complemented by a clear and informative presentation website. This site effectively outlines and details the app's functionalities and objectives.
The website prominently highlights its core purpose and unique selling proposition: managing emails Hands-Free and Eyes-Free. It provides examples of various situations in which the app can be utilized. Additionally, there's a dedicated section detailing each of the app's features. It also emphasizes that user data will remain secure, which I find particularly crucial given the access granted to your inbox.
Finally, it encourages users to join its community. I believe this is an excellent approach as it fosters a community of Harmony users and enthusiasts, opening avenues for feedback and enabling the application's growth.
The application has been tested in its Beta version and was launched very recently, which presents some restrictions such as the fact that it is only available for download on the App Store. Therefore, only iOS users will be able to enjoy its functionalities. Additionally, it is specified that it is only available for use with Gmail accounts, but they are working to cover more types of email providers.
Downloading the application is 100% free, and you only have to pay for a subscription to access its functionalities. But don't worry, Harmony offers a 14-day free trial for new users.
Once the application is downloaded, it asks you to log in to your Gmail, and once on your dashboard, a very friendly, clear, and easy-to-navigate interface is presented. And that's it! You can start reading, sending, deleting emails, drafting, unsubscribing, and many more options that I will detail later.
How it Works: Putting Harmony to the Test
Now, it's time to put Harmony's promising functionalities to the test.
Download and Log In to Harmony
The first thing to do is clearly download Harmony. You can do this by searching directly in the App Store or using the "Download" button on the website. Once the application is downloaded on your iPhone or iPad, Harmony gives you a debrief of its main functions and then asks you to connect to your Gmail. I performed the test with one of the emails we have for Open-Launch.
Once inside, the interface is super simple and minimalist. Personally, I like these types of designs that don't have unnecessary clutter but show you what you need and focus on the main function, which allows users to navigate with much more clarity and offers a better experience when using the application. Your mails inbox will be displayed on the main page, and you can already see the number of unread emails you have and the total number as well.
In the upper right corner, you have a settings option where you can log out, change the mode, and find out more about the application in the tabs that take you to the website containing the information.
The Test: Talking with the AI Email Assistant
As I said before, the way to use the application is one of the simplest I've seen; there's no way to get lost. Once on the dashboard, the only thing you need to do to start is click on the email displayed on the main page from which you want to read or send emails, and instantly the AI appears asking you:
Hi, I’m your Gmail assistant. Would you like me to catch you up on your emails?
That's the proposition your assistant makes. Now, all that's left is to start interacting with it. You can tell it “No” and request what you want to do, or as I did, I said “Yes” so it would tell me the pending emails. After a few seconds, the AI gives me a summary of the number of unread emails I have and asks me what action I want to take with them.
For this test, I left an email in my inbox informing me about the publication of this Harmony Review, and the AI detected it well and quoted the entire content of the email exactly. I then took the opportunity to test sending emails by asking it to reply to that email, for which I drafted the following:
Thank you so much for the information. I really want to read the Harmony reviews.
Finally, the AI drafted the email it was going to send, and when I gave approval, it sent it perfectly!
The Veredict: Did it Deliver?
Harmony completely passed the test. The AI interaction interface resembles a classic conversation chat where messages accumulate, and you can ask for anything at any time. You feel like you're talking to your real assistant.
Additionally, at the bottom, there are two buttons. On the right, there's a microphone icon button where you can mute yourself when you finish speaking, so the AI knows your message is complete. On the left is the button to exit and return to your dashboard.
Every response the AI gives is precise, clear, and true. For example, sending an email happens instantly, reaches the recipient perfectly, and is well-registered in your sent messages as if you had drafted and sent it directly from your Gmail account.
I must admit that it is a truly practical tool. The application has an AI assistant that generates responses and actions that exactly meet your needs. The ease of navigation and use of the app means that with a simple click, you'll find yourself truly talking to the AI as your assistant, allowing you to manage your mail while doing other tasks, or even if you simply don't want to read your messages.
Pricing
Now that we know all the functionalities and what Harmony allows you to do, you'll be even more surprised by the price at which you can get it.
- Downloading the application is completely free.
- Harmony offers you a 14-day free trial as a new user.
- Once you’ve seen how much time Harmony saves you during the 14-day free trial, the subscription continues at just $9.99 per month.
Clearly, you can manage your subscription and cancel at any time. Also, keep in mind that all payments, billing, renewals, cancellations, etc., are made directly with Apple.
Who Should Use Harmony
Anyone with an email, from a student to a big entrepreneur, can use Harmony. You download the app, talk to it, and it reads your messages aloud and does whatever you ask: reply, delete, archive, or label, all without touching or looking at the screen.
One of the reasons Harmony promotes, which I find very accurate, is the fact that it's very practical to manage your inbox even when you're busy. It truly is an assistant you just need to tell what to do, and it does it. Plus, there are several situations where this tool proves useful: When you're driving, cooking, exercising, even if you're walking and don't feel like using your phone on the street, you just need to talk to Harmony, and it will read you the email you just received.
Conclusion: Harmony
We have reached the end of the Harmony Review, and it is clearly the application I would recommend to everyone; its simplicity and performance make a difference in our inbox.
✅ What I loved most:
- Simplicity and ergonomics of the application
- Payment via Apple
- Voice command - Hands-free, eyes-free email
- Privacy
👉 Things to consider:
- For now, Harmony only works with Gmail and on iOS, so it would be great if it soon added support for Outlook and other providers and launched Android and desktop versions to complete the experience.
The app turns every free minute into useful time for your inbox: it reads your emails, obeys simple commands, and keeps your data private without saving your emails. This way, you achieve the desired "inbox zero" without interrupting anything in your day.
